Does Prince Harry Need a Spanking?

February 15, 2009 4 Comments

Prince Harry is pretty fly for a white guy. He’s the more rebellious of the two princes, he’s got a fiery personality to go with that red head and if I were to choose one of the two princes to party with it would definitely be Harry. I came across an interesting article and video clip (see below) that I felt compelled to share.prince-harry

Prince Harry has been called out on more than one occasion for his racist remarks and “inappropriate behaviour”. I have reiterated Prince Harry’s journey to controversy land in the form of a timeline:

  • 2002: Prince Harry gets caught smoking marijuana
  • 2005: Prince Harry shows up to a costume party dressed as a Nazi solider complete with swastika armband
  • 2006: A home video shows Prince Harry referring to an Ahmed Raza Khan Pakistani fellow officer cadet, as “our little Paki friend”.
  • 2008: at Prince Charles’s 60th birthday concert last year, Prince Harry told the black comedian  Stephen K Amos that he didn’t “sound like a black chap.”
  • 2009: Prince Harry has been sent on an equality diversity course by the British Army, after his home video went public

Am I the only person who is not shocked by this? What we see here is the prince displaying typical rich kid behaviour and furthermore even normal kid behaviours in some of these instances such as his experimentation with drugs. The only difference between Harry and the rest of us is that his life is under constant surveillance and he just so happens to be in line for the crown.

Outside of work, school and/or church, when we are alone with our friends or in the company of family, we let those politically incorrect remarks come out our mouths. Although I love my brown brothers and sisters, I have caught myself on several occasions using the term “paki”. And as a black person I have found myself snickering and saying that certain black people are “white-washed”, because they talk “proper”.

Is it right to use these derogatory terms amongst friends and family? Why not? In the company of close friends or family, we tend to crack on each other. We laugh and comeback with more cracks or jokes. Although these cracks or comments are intended to offend, the recipient is aware that the comment is not to be taken to heart.

I may use these derogatory terms loosely in the company of family and friends, but I mean well. I accept that we are all different, and I would never use derogatory terms to offend anyone publicly, but to be honest they slip out my mouth from time to time.

Is Prince Harry a racist?

Who knows? But he does have a unique sense of humour, which only a small percentage of the world would understand. The nazi costume incident made me laugh. I think what the prince intended to do was to raise shock value and go outside the norm cocaine is a helluva drug maybe even spark discussion. Kinda like when Kat Williams attended the BET awards in 2007 wearing a noose around his neck as an accessory.

To me, the message was not that Prince Harry was a Nazi wannabe or that Kat wants to get strung up and hung- But I guess the world is not ready for their fashion statements. I strongly believe that Prince Harry did not intend to offend the Jewish community. I think that the idea of wearing the Nazi costume invoked the idea that, “yes this is apart of our history, it’s shameful, and I want everyone to remember what this represents”.

His crack on home video where he called his fellow Pakistani officer, “our little paki friend”, was upsetting for a lot of people. But c’mon folks, I’m sure the guys had called Ahmed that to his face before, and within their unit they all have little nicknames for each other. It was unfortunate that this private video made it to the press.

kat-williams-nooseNow his recent scuffle with the media is over a comment allegedly made at his father’s (Prince Charles) birthday party last November to black comedian Stephen K Amos in which he said, “You don’t sound like a black chap”. It was meant to be a joke, but the comedian found it to be offensive.

This comment stopped me in my tracks, so much that I decided to write this post. Not outraged, but just disappointed that even with the home video that surfaced and his black chap comment the Prince only gets a slap on the wrist, takes a diversity course, and then continues on about his merry way.

Perhaps the prince needs to spend a little time overseas, get a dose of reality in North America and go on back to Buckingham palace. What started out as James-Dean-Rebel-without-a-cause is slowly turning into Prince Harry will get his ass whooped if he goes into the hood.

What do you make of Prince Harry’s escalating ignorance?

Will the diversity course help smarten him up?

How did watching the video make you feel?

I will not hesitate to put Prince Harry over my knee,

  1. Hey Girl,

Very interesting post and you made some very valid points. One that especially stuck out from what you wrote is the following:

“Outside of work, school and/or church, when we are alone with our friends or in the company of family, we let those politically incorrect remarks come out our mouths…”

This is absolutely true and is relevant among all races. And as for the video of Prince Harry, No, I am not surprised at all. Indeed I view his behavior as typical. Though I must say I am indeed surprised this footage was found on YouTube of all places. He is REALLY rebelling and appears fearless of authority, this can be dangerous and lcan lead to far worse things. How is that he had the camera anyway? Hmmm….. seems a bit inappropriate don’t you think.

    Bye girl!

    Forever Fabulous,
    The Single Dame

Hey Single Dame, thanks for stopping by to bless the post!! lol
Good point- How is it that he had that camera??
He really needs his mama back in his life to give him an ass whooping for talking out his mouth like that.
I think his rebellion is becoming tiresome…

  3. NightFall says:

He’s a Prince. He’s reality is so far from reality that at least to me and many folk I deal with it doesn’t even register on the radar. His benefit is that he never has to go to the hood.lol or if he doesn’t he will have security then 50 cent. I’d rather lay a spanking on these bad ass kids over here then waste it on him.

  4. Tee'd Off says:

Agreed Nightfall..but he still do deserve a great American ass whooping in my opnion…and he will get one, one day if he continues acting a fool.
