Goddess Hair Picks
June 29, 2009 6 CommentsWhile on my way to the CHI, I lost one very important item in my luggage. I was late and almost missed my flight but the kind folks at American airlines allowed me to board, the only exception was that I had to bring my luggage with me through TSA and aboard the plane…smh
That meant I had to get rid of all liquids, one of those liquids being the one hair product I thought I couldn’t live without.
So I arrived in the CHI with troll doll hair, because there is no such thing as controlling my natural mane, with or without products. I picked up two new products that I now swear by in addition to the product I THOUGHT I couldn’t live without.
Here’s my list:
1) The ultimate hair product for curly & natural: Mixed Chicks
I only use the leave in conditioner. I don’t need any other styling aids, when I use mixed chicks. You put a small amount in section-by-section, scrunch & air dry. At approx. $20, a small sized bottle lasts me 3-6 months: www.Mixedchicks.net
For more course textures or for more “control” I also swear by the Curls line, same idea, apply, dry and go: www.curls.biz
2) The ultimate shampoo & conditioner for any type of hair: Organix®
I picked this product up at CVS for approx. $7. This product is available at a range of different retailers, more info is on the company website. Sulfate free and truly organic, my hair does not feel weighed-down and because it is sulfate free, I’m not encouraging build up on the scalp. The products come in yummy scents such as Shea Butter, Coconut Milk, Pomegranate Green Tea, & Teatree Mint: www.organixhair.com
3) The ultimate styling aid & shine provider: Jane Carter Solution Nourish & Shine
This is the only hair product that I might try eating! All natural and infused with Shea butter, Kokum butter, Illippe butter, Mango butter, Vitamins A, D, & E, pear and grapefruit essential oils, this product will have you grabbing your hair just to smell the fruity goodness. Retailing online for $22, I copped this product in a hair store in Brooklyn for only $17, so if you shop around you can get a good deal. Plus the website features a coupon for $7 off the Jane Carter Summer Hair Care Protection Regimen: www.janecartersolution.com
In addition to the products I also recommend you keep a wide toothcomb in the shower & invest in a microfibre towel. A wide tooth comb to comb your conditioner through in the shower & a microfibre towel to prevent frizz.
Ok I hope yall enjoyed hair day at Goddess Intellect. May your hair smell sweet and flow free of build up!!!!
I would also love to hear your input and any suggestions for products that may have worked for your hair.
Embracing the kinks & curls,

Hey Girly!
Ookay Okay, I’ll try these products JUST because you are recommending them (LoL), I plan on getting all of them except for the MixChicks.
Oh, as of now I’m currently using Giovanni products (organic as well) and affordable.
Thanks for sharing AND I plan on blogging tonight. I’ll probably do a quick blog before midnight Chicago time. Miss ya! Oh, and Tiny and Tonya show on BET looks like it’s going to be SO GOOD, I’m officially excited. Don’t forget to tune in.
Forever Fabulous,
The Single Dame
Single!! Glad you’re back girl, I’ll be looking out for that new post!!
Giovanni…sounds expensive..but if you say its not I’ll look it up…just cuz its organic lol
Not a big fan of Tiny…but who knows that could change lol..I am always interested to know how rich ppl live
Hi there,
Mixed Chicks is so tempting to try.
I don’t do wash and go style due to the coarseness of my hair so I’m sure it would make a wonderful leave-in.
I love the Nourish and Shine but haven’t purchased it in a long while.
Trying to curb my product-junkie ways. lol
My love is Ohm Sweet Hair Pudding for twist and braid sets. It’s a moisturizer and styler in one, which I love.
And, I have to have my Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose.
Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle rose- yummmmmmm…I’ma have to look that up!!!
If u try mixed chicks and find that its not gving your the control/moisture you need…def try the Curls line…they have different mixes for different textures in that line.
i am definitely going to try all of these. I’ve had my eye on Mix Chicks at Ricky’s for a while but never brought it. I usually use the Garnier shampoo and condition and then douse my hair with Curly Pudding. Garnier smells great but its not the best product for my natural hair. I’m also excited about Organix too. i went on the site and it looks like it smells great just from the pictures hahaha.
My biggest problem is making my curls last past 3 days. How often does every one else wash there hair?
(Dr. Miracle is GREAT for detangling if you’re lazy like me)
PS your make up looked great too in the pic of you at the salon
That was my problem too, making my curls last past day 3 days cuz my curls gets nappy & naughty and begin to dread & compress= HOT MESS!! loll….
my stylist gave me this advice: do a wet-down every other day. This means wetting your hair in the shower and taking your conditioner applying it to the ends ONLY ..leave in for 5 min..rinse (in cold water) scrunch re-apply leave-in &/or styling aid- then go about your biz..I’ve been using this method so far and i dont experience a loss of moisture or shine.
I need to look into this curly pudding…I’ve been cruious about it for so long, but never tried it out.
Oh & thanx for the make-up compliment!!!
