Bruno: Oh hell naw!

I know. I know I have not yet posted for this week, my apologies. I have been on quite the adventure in the past 3 days. I went from expecting an out of town guest to embarking on a magical journey to the great borough of Brooklyn. I won’t get into details as to how I ended up here, because frankly it’s my personal biz (a.k.a an upcoming post) but I have to say that one of my adventures while on my magical journey has inspired today’s post.
I have been anticipating the release of the film Bruno, based on the character from the Ali G show. I found the effeminate behavior, openly gay proclamation and interviews with gay converters to be hilarious. I even went so far as to have a mini countdown to the movie, while everyone was busy mourning MJ. I was psyched, so psyched to see what comedian/actor Sacha Baron Cohen could possibly pull out of his ass hat next.
To me, the premise of the original skit Bruno was to expose how self centered and flippant people in the fashion/entertainment could be, not just towards the gay community but just in general. Occasionally there were interviews with faith based- anti gay group leaders and run ins with common folk in the south. In the film there was a taste of what you got from the show but then there was a whole lot that made my stomach turn. I’m talking PDA, and OD on nudity. I know that while I was watching the film one couple walked out. We know that Bruno is gay, yes, I know that. But I also know that seeing contraptions used in his sex acts (exercise bike + dildo need I say more) combined with extended scenes of nudity and imaginary foreplay was not only unnecessary but revolting.
Has our need for shock value in films increased to the point where we need the inside scoop on extreme sexual deviance? I accept people into my life regardless of sexual preference, but umm you’re little bedroom quirks and intrigues can well, stay there. In a past post Gay for a day, I made it clear that I was not comfortable with gay PDA. And well this movie put me over the edge. I still haven’t changed that point of view.
So needless to say I am disappointed. Short of a few funny moments (OJ, traditional African name?), I am left with a bad taste in my mouth. I may have to abandon movie going for awhile.
Vassswrong?

Yeah I’m not too interested in this movie.
….Brooklyn huh?So u were in NY and didn’t holla?I’m crushed.
Don’t be! My trip to Ny was not pre-planned…it was more of an emergency trip
I would def holla under normal circumstances
This movie had corny written all over it before it dropped. I did like Borat though.
I saw the movie over the weekend and I wanted to gag.
